Lucy Duckworth - Art Psychotherapist
Lucy Duckworth is a qualified Art Therapist and is registered with the Healthcare Professions Council and the British Association of Art Therapists. She qualified in 2003 and has experience of working both in the public and private sector. She continues to work within a child and adolescent mental health team focusing in recent years upon offering individual therapy to children and young people affected by trauma.
She is also particularly interested in working with young people with developmental difficulties such as ADHD and ASD and has extensive experience of this through her work in a community CAMHS setting.
In the past she has co-facilitated art therapy groups and has experience of working with children with a wide range of presenting difficulties. Prior to training as an art therapist Lucy worked within adult social care supporting adults with learning difficulties both in the community and within resource centres.
Lucy has experience of working with children across a wide age range offering a flexible and creative approach. Lucy is dedicated to working with young people who present with a range of difficulties and who may present as hard to reach or cut off from their emotions. Through a non-directive approach, art therapy offers a safe space in which a child or young person can express emotions safely, through the
Lucy offers a friendly, flexible and gentle approach and the therapy is led by the young person and will go at their pace. Lucy provides regular feedback to parents and carers of the young people that she works with as to themes and progress within the art therapy sessions.
