Dr Victoria Stephens - Psychologist & Psychotherapist

Victoria has worked within the NHS for over 20 years. She qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 1999 and since that time has worked primarily in child and adolescent mental health services.

She works with children, young people and their parents/carers for brief, medium and long-term interventions. She has experience of working with a wide range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, deliberate self-harm and suicidality, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating difficulties, obsessive-compulsive disorders and grief and loss. She is also able to administer and interpret neuropsychological assessments. She uses many different interventions, including CBT and Trauma CBT.

Having worked extensively as a Senior Clinical Psychologist for many years, Victoria has also trained in group and individual parent-infant psychotherapy at the Anna Freud Centre and has worked within a parent infant mental health service for over ten years. This work is offered alongside providers in early years services, such as midwifery and health visiting, and aims to support and enable secure attachments between carers and their infant (pre- and post-birth) where vulnerabilities have arisen as a result of experiences such as a traumatic birth, post-natal depression or other mental health needs, feeding difficulties or infant failure to thrive.

Victoria recently qualified as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, successfully completing the four-year professional qualification at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust.

The combination of training and experience enables Victoria to offer a comprehensive assessment and formulation of clinical need as well as provide a therapeutic intervention that is tailored to the needs of the clients and goals and changes they would hope to achieve to bring about some relief to the distress they are experiencing.
